What do you know about rice?. Let me tell you something about this special grain which is used as the staple food by billions of people in the world. Actually, rice is a grain of the grass species Oryza sativa (Asian rice) or Oryza glaberrima(African rice). Many people across the globe consume it as their staple food. Especially in Asia. Every year many countries produce a huge amount of rice as a commodity. More than half of the total world population uses rice as their staple food.  Now let’s have a look at the nutrition facts that are included in rice.

Rice is very rich in nutrition facts. Even though we find different types of rice in every nook and corner of the world, white and red rice are more popular than all the other types of rice.

Brown rice is more nutritious than white rice, due qualities in it, according to a world-famous foundation, which promotes the benefits of healthy eating. Brown rice is a whole grain, that is because it has three parts of the grain kernel. Those are the outer layer filled with fibre, the nutrient-rich core and the starchy middle layer

First of all, you must soak and rinse the rice. So take a big bowl and pour water into it after putting the rice into the bowl.  Keep soaking the rice for about thirty minutes. Now you must strain the water in the bowl. Take the sieve and put rice on to the strainer and strain it well. After straining, wash the rice again under fresh running water for a minute. This washes off the dirt in your bowl of rice and it also removes extra starch in it.

Okay, let’s move on to the next step. Take a medium-sized saucepan and pour about two cups full of water into it. Bring the water to a boil under medium heat.

Now you should simmer rice, oil and salt. When the water gets boiled take off the lid from the pot. Stir in the remaining ingredients. Bring the water again to a gentle simmer above medium heat. When the water is simmering again, shut the lid on and reduce the heat. Keep cooking for 18 to 30 minutes.

After cooking the rice, take it off the heat. Leave the lid on and keep the pot aside to rest for about five minutes. This helps to steam the rice, give it a chance to absorb leftover moisture, and make it tender.

Okay then. Now you are ready to serve the rice.
